My model # PR55R621CA was purchased at Sears several years ago and the Honda engine is still in excellent condition; however, the self propelled system needs attention. While I am not a mechanic I do have the ability to follow instructions.
My hope is that your experience with Poulan Pro's self propelled systems would be extremely helpful in restoring my mower to its original excellence. (1) This, of course, is a rear wheel driven unit. When an attempt to pull the mower backward, both rear wheels will not convert to an 'idle' mode and the result is having to drag the mower backwards. I'm looking at the repair parts manual and thinking that the ball bearing (#169911) might not be functioning as designed (?). (2) I recently replaced the V-Belt (#166060) to provide an improved pulling concern.
Has it been your experience to replace the Transmission System (#166388) or would replacement of both side Drive Pawls (#170011) with both Drive Pinions (#166450) complete a satisfactory repair to place the self propelled back in shape?
