If you have any problems with the registration process or your account login, please. Morning all, I'm looking for any information on the proper procedure for changing the oil filter, oil, and slide valve position senseor on a Mcquay AGS chiller. The compressor has a 45 psid across the oil filter and the slide valve will load up properly, but it will not unload. Or at least the slide valve position sensor does not 'track' with the slide valve. The amp draw on the compressor doesn't unload fully also. The controller is giving me a slide valve position fault.
I've calibrated the sensor already. Any help would be appreciated! Have a great day!!! AGS SLIDE POSITION INDICATOR CALIBRATION 1.
If compressor is running, pump down and shut off circuit. Remove electrical plug and screw cap. Reinstall plug. Enter tech password.
Put indicator offsets to 0. Go to set compressor setpoints and put slide control to manual. Start compressor and put slide position to 0%. There should be a green light in the sensor. Push the black button, the light should go steady red then flash red. Bring slide to 100% in 2 or 3 steps. Once at 100%, push the black button again.
The light should go green. Return to 0% and set offset if required. Bring slide to 100% again and set offset if required. Return to 0% and shut compressor off, remove the plug, reinstall the cap, reinstall the plug and restore circuit to operation 12.
Put slide control back to automatic. Repeat steps for the other compressor. The compressor will not run if the indicator goes to –20% or lower. The indicator heads can be switched between units by loosening two set screws and sliding the head off the shaft.
The compressor does not need to be pumped down. This can help determine if just the head is bad or if the entire indicator or slide is bad. All original indicators have a roller ball that slides against the slide rod. This ball has been wearing a groove in the slide rod. It can cause the indicator to show no change in position.
Tech response has indicators that have a teflon tip that is supposed to fix the problem. You may run across an indicator that does not have a cap and button. They are few on very early models. They are set by going to 0% and 100% and setting the offset on the controller. Quick Navigation. Site Areas.
